MCH - Third Floor Casting (West) - Complete

The Third Floor Slab (West Wing) was completed yesterday after a solid 20 hours of casting. This completes another 13,000 sq feet of space that covers the OB GYN section of the hospital including 3 operation theaters, birthing rooms and 37 patient beds. Despite still being in the rainy season, the weather was very favorable again with only a couple brief periods of rain throughout the entire day. There was a peak of 240 men (and one woman - Holly) on site during the day of casting (160 carrying/loading labors, 15 machine operators, 25 vibrators/cleaners/steel binders/misc labor, 8 concrete levelers, 4 plumbing/electrical workers, 6 workshop finishers, 25 supervision.)

Cavendish and PEI Butterfly House

Jon is back in Bangladesh now and I am preparing to join him in a few days.  The end of a visit always sneaks up on me.

During Jon's time in PEI we visited Cavendish with most of the Barrett clan and spent some hours riding the waterslides at Shining Waters family Fun Park.

Jon and I made a quick visit to the beach before heading home.  Here are a couple quotes in honour of my love for the ocean and the One who created it.

“Look at that sea, girls--all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds.”
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

“In still moments by the sea life seems large-drawn and simple. It is there we can see into ourselves.”

I also visited the Butterfly House finally with some friends. I recommend it (wear bright colors apparently)!

2014 Eid Holidays

After a couple weeks of EID holidays for the workers things are starting back up again on site. If the weather co-operates we are two weeks away from the next slab casting (third floor - west slab).
